Funding Local Rural Business
We are sssisting local companies in obtaining federal efficiency and clean energy grants
Here at Blue Planet we want to help your business become more sustainable. We want to help you obtain grants and loan-guarantees available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), so we can help you purchase renewable energy systems and make energy improvements to your workplace. The grants may cover up to 25% of your eligible project costs, or you may qualify for a combination of grants and loans that could cover up to 75% of your project’s costs. Grants are a lump sum of money with no strings attached—as long as you are able to cover the remaining 75%. It can be combined with any other incentives, such as solar water heater rebates offered by HECO, State, and the federal government. A loan-guarantee means that the federal government becomes a co-signer for the loan you take for your smarter energy project.
You must be a Rural small business owner, Farmer, or Rancher to qualify:
1. Rural small businesses: Your business must be located outside of Red Hill and Makapuu on the island of Oahu, and you must meet the Small Business Definition, usually defined by the number of employees or average receipts. Click here for more information http://www.sba.gov/size/index.html
2. Farmers and Ranchers: You must directly engage in the production of agricultural products and get at least 50% of your gross income from your agricultural business.
3. Urban businesses, non-profit organizations, Tribes, and public entities are excluded from obtaining any grants or loan-guarantees.
If your business qualifies and you are looking for assistance in implementing clean energy improvements, email us. We are here to help.
